Located in northern Portugal, the Douro River Valley is famous for the cultivation of olives, almonds and particularly grapes for making Port wine. Also, the first-class red wines of the valley have achieved high recognition around the world. The Douro region was established in the 18th century, being one of the oldest demarcated wine region in the world.

Quinta do Pégo is located in the Douro Demarcated Region, or more precisely, in the sub-region of Cima Corgo, centred around the town of Pinhão. It is also located in the heart of the area classified as World Heritage by UNESCO. The grapes grown in this area are considered of the highest quality, and thus are used for making Vintage and Late Bottled Vintage Ports.
